The Secret Ingredient: Time and Trust
 

Good things take time.

 

Climmie: Before dawn breaks over Thomasville, I am already tending to smoldering pits at H&M BBQ & Soul Food. While mixing my proprietary charcoal blend—my mind dances forward to lunchtime. Every morning, I'm already picturing folks taking that first bite, their faces lighting up before they even know what's happening.

This anticipation of joy is the invisible ingredient that seasons everything at H&M BBQ, present long before you arrive.

My hard work ethic and culinary spark were ignited in my youth, cooking in local restaurants at 14.  For decades, I honed my craft in others’ kitchens while nurturing a quiet dream.

 

But I wanted my own BBQ restaurant.

From Backyard Smoke to Community Fire

We started as a side hustle in our backyard. Every weekend, my wife, Ashley, and our daughters joined in together. It was a family affair.

​

God blessed us. We were wildly successful! On Saturday and Sunday mornings after church the cars lined up through the neighborhood.

​

But I burned with a vision for having my own restaurant.  In a leap of faith, we struck out.

​

Ashley: He had a dream and a made up mind to pursue it. He is a visionary. In 2020, our wildly popular backyard barbecue outgrew its humble beginnings.

​

Today, Thursdays through Sundays the best people in the world show up and we love making them happy!
